Application Deadline Approaching for Young Entrepreneurs Academy of BR ClassApplications Due Friday

BATON ROUGE, La. – Aspiring student entrepreneurs in grades 8-12 are encouraged to submit their applications to participate in the upcoming Young Entrepreneurs Academy of Baton Rouge’s (YEA BR) class by this Friday, August 21.

In the true entrepreneurial spirit of resilience and adaptation, this year’s program will afford students the rare opportunity to flex their problem-solving skills through virtual platforms. “We are adjusting the seven-month program’s format to keep participants and instructors safely distanced,” said Sarah Munson, YEA BR Executive Director.

The Academy is facilitated by world-class instructors in live sessions using their proven national curriculum. Students meet virtually on Wednesday evenings with instructors, mentors and an array of notable guest speakers to develop business plans and launch their companies.

During the Academy, students pitch their businesses to a panel of investors for an opportunity to obtain seed funding for their start-ups. Once their companies are ready to launch, YEA BR assists students with filing their businesses with the Louisiana Secretary of State’s office. Upon graduation, student CEOs qualify for LSU credit if they enroll at the university within four years.

With the support of local businesses along with LED, BRAC and the LSU E.J. Ourso College of Business, YEA BR’s immersive program runs from September to April.  The program is open to students in Ascension, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, West Baton Rouge and West Feliciana parishes.

Applications are due by August 21, with need-based scholarships available. Space is limited. Students, parents, educators and donors can learn more at https://www.yeabr.org/apply.
