AT&T has unveiled a compensation initiative to alleviate the inconvenience faced by customers following a widespread cellphone network outage last week. The Dallas-headquartered telecommunications giant stated on its official website that impacted customers will receive a $5 credit applied to their accounts within two billing cycles.
However, it's important to note that the credit offer is exclusive to AT&T consumer accounts and does not extend to AT&T Business, prepaid services, or Cricket, the company's budget-friendly wireless service. While prepaid customers were affected by the outage, AT&T assured that alternative solutions will be provided, although specifics regarding these alternatives were not disclosed.
The outage, which disrupted cellphone services for numerous users across the United States, commenced in the early hours of Thursday and persisted until service was fully restored. AT&T attributed the incident to a coding error but clarified that it was not the outcome of a cyberattack.
As the company endeavors to rectify the disruption experienced by its clientele, this compensation initiative aims to mitigate any inconveniences caused by the recent network outage.
