Baton Rouge, LA - Our Lady of the Lake Health has appointed Dr. Christopher Trevino, MD, as the Vice President and Physician Executive for Emergency Services in Baton Rouge. With a focus on improving patient outcomes, Dr. Trevino will oversee care delivery at all six emergency rooms, which cater to approximately 200,000 individuals annually.
A highly respected leader within Ascension Parish, Dr. Trevino brings over 25 years of experience in emergency medicine. He is board certified and obtained his medical degree from the LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport. Since 1999, Dr. Trevino has held various medical director positions at Our Lady of the Lake Ascension, formerly St. Elizabeth Hospital.
Chuck Spicer, President of Our Lady of the Lake Health, praised Dr. Trevino's expertise and dedication, stating, "His experience in emergency medicine and his current role make him a great fit for this position to serve our entire market and, most importantly the people entrusted to our care."
In addition to his new responsibilities, Dr. Trevino will continue serving as the Chief Medical Officer at Our Lady of the Lake Ascension. Dr. Catherine O'Neal, Chief Medical Officer of Our Lady of the Lake Health, expressed her excitement about Dr. Trevino's impact on emergency services, emphasizing his leadership qualities and deep-rooted compassion for the community.
Dr. Trevino plays an active role in Ascension Parish outside the healthcare sector. He serves as the medical director of all EMS and fire services. He is the medical director and emergency medical support for the Crisis Response Team at the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Department. Furthermore, he holds the rank of lieutenant colonel in the Louisiana National Guard.
Dr. Christopher Trevino's appointment is expected to further strengthen emergency care at Our Lady of the Lake Health and enhance the well-being of the Baton Rouge community.
