The East Baton Rouge Council on Aging regretfully announces the cancelation of our Annual Crawfish Boil that was previously scheduled for Thursday, April 9th from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm at the Capital City Event Center.
In previous years, the Annual Crawfish Boil drew over a thousand seniors. This year EBRCOA anticipated 2,300 seniors would likely participate. Because of the large anticipated participation, the cancelation of the Crawfish Boil is a precaution to help prevent the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID19). The Center for Disease Control stresses the seriousness of COVID-19 and advises the disbandment of large gatherings. The senior community is a vulnerable population that needs to be protected and shielded from the potential transmission of the COVID-19. The EBRCOA urges the senior community to take preparedness measures and daily precautions.
“Our seniors are our top priority, although it saddens us to cancel this annual event because everyone has been looking forward to it. It is the right decision needed to protect the health and quality of life of the senior community of the East Baton Rouge Parish,” said Tasha Clark-Amar, EBRCOA Chief Executive Officer.
