Geaux Fish in Stocked BREC Ponds This October

EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH –BREC’s Conservation department invites you to Geaux Fish in their stocked ponds this October. Beginning Oct. 10, Howell Community Park Pond, Perkins Community Park Pond and Palomino Park Pond will be freshly stocked with channel catfish. Due to Covid-19, BREC will not host its traditional one-day event based fishing rodeo, but host two contests to encourage local fishing.

The first contest inspires practiced and new anglers to hone their craft by catching a “tagged” fish. There will be 14-tagged fish total in the three stocked ponds. Participants are required to take a picture of their fish and a picture of the number on the tag to win.  Participants can only win one prize and each tagged fish can only be claimed once. This contest will run at the start of the stocking Oct. 10 to Oct. 31. Participants are to submit photos to conservation@brec.org.

The second contest is for all ages and skill levels and encourages those visiting BREC ponds to take pictures of themselves enjoying the sport; whether you catch anything or not! The photo contest will run Oct. 10 to Nov. 15. Photogenic fishermen and families may submit their photo to conservation@brec.org.

For more information, visit brec.org/geauxfish or contact Kenneth LeCroy at conservation@brec.org or 225-272-9200 ext. 1567.
