Baton Rouge, LA –Ochsner Baton Rouge continues to assess its facilities and staffing following Hurricane Ida. Ochsner Medical Center – Baton Rouge (OMCBR) sustained minor wind and water damage but remains safe and fully operational. The emergency department at Ochsner Medical Complex – Iberville remains open.
Ochsner Medical Complex – The Grove and Ochsner Health Center – Bluebonnet South have full power. Surgical cases at The Grove will resume on Wednesday. Clinic appointments at both The Grove and Bluebonnet South will resume at 9 a.m., on Tuesday. Patients with existing appointments at these locations prior to 9 a.m., will be rescheduled. Ochsner Pharmacy & Wellness located inside The Grove will open Tuesday morning starting at 7 a.m.
As power is restored across the region, more facilities will quickly re-open. Patients with appointments at other satellite heath centers will be contacted to reschedule or moved to a virtual visit, if possible.
Essential personnel staffing at OMCBR will end at 7 a.m., on Tuesday. At that time, the hospital’s visitor policy returns to pre-hurricane status. Patients are advised to avoid traveling to the ER unless faced with a life-threatening emergency. For minor ailments, the best course of action is to start with a virtual urgent care visit through www.ochsner.org/virtualvisits, or via the Ochsner Anywhere Care app, for just $10.
