TALLAHASSEE, FL -- Southerns' fast start wasn't good enough to hold off Florida A&M inside Bragg Memorial Stadium on Saturday evening. The final score was 30-16.
Despite going toe-to-toe for the first 30 minutes of the contest, the Jags went into the half trailing by 8-points, 17-9. SU came out in the second half flat-running 22 plays for only 160 yards of total offense.
Southern QB Besean McCray finished the night going 8-of-20 for 88 yards, along with leading all rushers with 125 yards and a score. Redshirt sophomore Harold Blood came in with 5:47 left in the contest sparking the Jags offense going 2-of-3 passing for 25 yards before the Jags tight end fumbled Blood pass at the two-yard line. Cornelius Dyson led the Jags in receiving with 40 yards off two catches.
Despite living on the field in the second half, the Jags defense played a solid game led by Rodney Johnson, Jr., with six tackles and one pass breakup. Robert Rhem, Jalan Campbell, and Trey Laing all added five tackles, respectively.
