The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 6 And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete.
We are in a fight brothers and sisters, but as it has been said for many weeks now; it’s hard to fight what we cannot see. Is this not a misnomer? For all through the word of God, we see unseen battles. The scriptures are constantly reminding us that our fight is often not a
it appears, and therefore we must learn how to do battle differently. Ephesians 6:12 tells us 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this [present] darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) places. So as we understand that this COVID-19 though an attack on the physical man is really a spiritual force, then we understand better how to fight back.
The passage in 2Corinthians 10:4-6 gives us specific instructions on how to do battle against spiritual enemies. 1. It tells us that we cannot fight Corona with the weapons of the world, however, the (b) portion of verse 4 tells us that we have the divine or supernatural power of which we are to fight and remove the strongholds of this deadly disease. While doctors and scientists are searching for a cure; we the body of Christ should be praying that God would give them wisdom, knowledge, and understanding of this thing. 2. However, in the spirit, we must stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. In verse 5 we are told that we can demolish or defeat this thing despite the fact that it is presenting itself to have more power than it
really has. We do this by removing the thoughts of fear that it has placed upon us and making it submit to our authority by Christ Jesus. Obedience is a keyword here, for there are levels of obedience and also an order. We have witnessed how we have allowed the enemy to divide us and keep us from having a united front. All of it has been fear in one regard or another. Fear of losing power and control. Fear of a money shortage or economic decline. Fear of death and loss of life. One of the primary problems that we have had in defeating this virus is the unwillingness to be obedient; to God, to government, to health care providers. Therefore our lack of obedience or disobedience has seemingly brought punishment upon us. So now what do we do? How do we correct our errors?
We must first of all repent and acknowledge that we have been prideful and rebellious in our ways. We must seek the Lord for his mercy. Then we must ask the Lord to once again give us grace to follow instructions, and then obey. When we do this, then I believe the Lord will give us the strength to follow the battle plan. We must first watch, meaning to remain vigilant and alert in this night season, then fight, we do this by putting on the whole armor of God.
Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God” (Ephesians 6:13-17). Finally, we pray and praise, yet we do not pray for the victory, but we pray from our place of victory with the understanding that victory is already ours. So we shout unto the Lord with a voice of triumph! We don’t wait until the battle is over, we shout now understanding that as Nehemiah 8:10 states, the joy of the Lord is our strength. We do not give thanks for this invisible enemy and the devastation seen all around us, instead we give praise to our almighty invisible God who has already won the battle. Then we walk it
out by faith, and not by sight with the expectation that when the battle is over we will collect the spoils of war! Those of us who remain will be better and there will be glory after this. Note
