Spooky Scares and Ghoulish Delights Await in Baton Rouge

Baton Rouge, La. - October has arrived, meaning "spooky season" is in full swing in south Louisiana. We've compiled a list of trick-or-treat times for various parishes and some exciting Halloween events in the Baton Rouge area. So, prepare your costumes, plan your routes, and prepare for Halloween fun!

Trick-or-Treat Times (if issued by city/parish):

  • East Baton Rouge Parish: Tuesday, October 31; 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.

  • West Baton Rouge Parish: Tuesday, October 31; 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

  • Livingston Parish: Tuesday, October 31; 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.

  • Tangipahoa Parish: Tuesday, Oct. 31; 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.

  • Ascension Parish: Tuesday, Oct. 31; 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.

  • Iberville Parish: Tuesday, Oct. 31; 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.

  • Pointe Coupee Parish: Tuesday, Oct. 31; 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. (outside of specific municipalities)

  • Village of Morganza (Pointe Coupee Parish): Tuesday, Oct. 31; 5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m.

Trick-or-Treat Safety Tips:

  1. Plan Your Route: Before you head out for trick-or-treating, plan your route. Stick to well-lit areas and neighborhoods you're familiar with. Let someone know where you'll be and how long you'll be gone.

  2. Stay Visible: Wear reflective or bright-colored costumes, add reflective tape to your child's outfit and treat bag, and carry a flashlight or glow sticks to be visible to drivers.

  3. Inspect Candy: When you return home, inspect all Halloween treats. Discard any unwrapped or suspicious-looking items, especially if your child has food allergies.

  4. Stay on Sidewalks: Remind children to walk on sidewalks and be cautious when crossing roads. Avoid cutting across yards or streets in the dark.

  5. Use the Buddy System: Travel in a group with a trusted adult whenever possible. The buddy system provides safety and makes trick-or-treating more fun.

  • Boo at the Zoo: A trick-or-treating extravaganza at the Baton Rouge Zoo on October 21-22 and 28-29.

Tangipahoa Parish:

  • Trunk of Treat & Night Out Against Crime on Halloween night at Hammond Westside Montessori.

Assumption Parish:

  • Night Out Against Crime Trunk or Treat on Oct. 25 at the Labadieville Volunteer Fire Department.
