Baton Rouge, La —The Southern University System President-Chancellor Search Committee today announced three finalists for the position of president of the Southern University System and chancellor of Southern University and A&M College. The decision was made after virtual interviews with five semi-finalists on Jan. 18 and Jan. 19.
The three finalists are:
• Laurence Alexander, chancellor of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff
• Walter Kimbrough, president of Dillard University in New Orleans
• Dennis Shields, chancellor of the University of Wisconsin Platteville
This is a very important matter for the Southern University System and Southern University and A&M College,” said Alfred Harrell, co-chair of the committee. “We are excited about moving forward with this process.”
The finalists will visit Southern’s Baton Rouge campus on Feb.
1-3 for a series of meetings with stakeholders, including the Southern University System Board of Supervisors, employees,
students, and alumni. The schedule of events for the February stakeholder meetings will be provided later this week.
