YWCAGBR's Initiative Aims to Empower Through
Employment and Record Redemption
BATON ROUGE, La. – A unique opportunity for individuals seeking a fresh start is on the horizon. Multiple organizations are joining forces to assist people in clearing their records and providing employment prospects. This collaborative effort is a key component of the YWCA of Greater Baton Rouge's upcoming Job and Expungement Fair, scheduled for Wednesday, October 25.
Taking place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Delmont Library in Baton Rouge, the event aims to equip attendees with knowledge about job opportunities in the region, facilitating career transitions, and enhancing training opportunities. Moreover, the fair offers attendees the chance to register to vote, emphasizing the importance of civic participation.
Open to everyone, regardless of gender, all consultations provided at the event are confidential and entirely cost-free. Lindsay Blouin, the Director of Legal Services, highlighted the significance of the expungement component, especially given the current economic climate. Clearing one's record can be a gateway to a brighter future, whether by expunging old misdemeanor convictions or assisting in finding employment closer to home. Blouin and her team will address expungement eligibility, guide individuals through expungement motion filing, and work to clear eligible individuals' records.
In case you cannot attend on October 25, Blouin stressed that you can reach out to the YWCA of Greater Baton Rouge for further assistance.
This event promises to be a vital resource for anyone seeking a second chance, providing essential guidance on both employment and record expungement. The YWCA of Greater Baton Rouge's commitment to community support and empowerment is evident in this initiative, underlining the importance of a brighter future for all.
